"Ozannes continues to remain firmly in Guernsey's top tier by offering excellent advice on banking, finance and commercial law matters and by possessing specialist funds knowledge. In November 2002 Jeremy Wessels was poached from rival firm Babbe Le Pelley Tostevin and named as a new partner, and this will no doubt maintain Ozannes' predominant position in Guernsey's corporate and commercial legal environment.
In the past year Ozannes has acted for, among others, French utility company Suez on its sale of Northumbrian Water, and Scottish Widows Investment Partnership on the launch of the UK-based Balanced Property Trust, a property fund set up to raise �175 million ($278 million) whose shares are admitted to the official list of the London Stock Exchange. The latter deal was worked on by leading lawyer Peter Harwood.
Ozannes has also acted as Guernsey advisor to a number of UK magic circle firms, who employ the firm's services as Guernsey law advisors on major transactions. Recent deals include advising the ABB Group in relation to ABB's $1.5 billion refinancing, and acting as Guernsey legal advisors in connection with the establishment of the Elders Investment Company, which has to date raised capital through the issuance of seven series of preference shares linked to debt securities and derivatives contracts.
