Guernsey Employment Law has yet to enact some of the more controversial protections of English and European Employment Law but it remains a complex area with many pitfalls for the unwary. New legislation in March 2006 introduced the concept of sex discrimination and legislation dealing with other forms of discrimination is likely to follow in the years to come.

Understanding Guernsey's Employment Law

We were involved in the drafting of Guernsey's principal employment legislation in 1998 and have more lawyers specialising in Employment Law than any other local firm.

Alternatively, our Full Compliance Service will carry out a root and branch review, draft new contracts and procedures if necessary and give you access to an employment law hotline constantly staffed by one of our employment team so that you can get an instant answer to that knotty HR problem. We also offer advanced management training to assist clients in applying their procedures in a compliant manner.

Position of Last resort
Our aim in advising clients is to ensure that employment matters are dealt with in a way that does not lead to litigation.  However, the Ozannes Employment Group includes three Partners of Ozannes' Litigation with substantial experience before the Courts and Tribunals in Guernsey and we are therefore well able to deal with matters which become contentious.
