Wilton Park Holdings Limited    December 2006

ERSM Limited (now Ravelston Limited) was a Guernsey company involved in the security industry in Iraq. There were various shareholders, the most significant of which was Simon Crane who held his shares through a trust and company structure administered by Claridges Trustees (Peter Dawson Ball).

Damian Woodward was recruited as FD and given an 18% share in ERSM through his own trust and company structure - Wilton Park. When fired from his job, the majority shareholders sought to argue that his shares should be acquired at a nominal value. We sought to argue that they should be acquired at their true market value.

After nearly two years of negotiations and haggling, complaints to the GFSC and legal proceedings, the matter was settled on confidential terms.

Bank Julius Baer    2006

Bank Julius Baer was served with a Restraint Order on assets which it held as security for lending it had provided to its client who was the subject of international criminal investigations. This was a ground breaking application in that we managed to persuade the prosecuting authorities that a Restraint Order could only seize upon the value of the assets after taking account of the Bank’s right of set off, thereby ensuring that the Bank’s security for the underlying arrangements remained intact.
